  • The rabbit's intestinal tract is released only if it receives new food, so you need to give food in small quantities, but regularly - then the gastrointestinal tract of the animal will work without interruption. At the same time, irregular or disproportionate food intake leads to digestive problems.
  • The diet should be as varied as possible. If the food is given monotonous, the animal may begin to hurt, and the productivity will decrease. After all, the same food, the rabbits eat with a little hunt, but a variety, they eat actively.
Important! Rabbits Gray Giant should not overfeed or underfeed. Obese or thin females are not suitable for mating, and such individuals are sick much more often.

  • Special attention is paid to the feeding of pregnant and giving birth to females, as well as baby rabbits and male producers. Enough vitamins and minerals should be present in their diet.
  • A change of diet in spring and autumn should always occur gradually, over the course of a week! Any abrupt changes can harm the digestion of the animal.

For the Gray Giant rabbits, it is very important to get a sufficient amount of juicy feed (vegetables, greens), but they are always given along with hay. At the same time the greens are fed dried. Vegetables give seasonal, as long as they are clean, not rotten and not spoiled.

Grain is suitable in the form of mash, crushed - so you can ensure maximum nutrients, because not all types of whole grains can gnaw rabbits. Compound feed often replaces or complements cereals. You can buy it or prepare it yourself if you have the necessary equipment.

Interesting! In winter and early spring, when there is not enough healthy, vegetable food, you can germinate grain. It has an abundance of useful substances that are so necessary for crawlers at this time.

Breeding Gray Giants

Breeding Gray Giants

Breeding rarely causes problems. Males are fertile, active, especially with good, vitaminized feeding. About 7-8 rabbits are usually around, but the amount can reach up to 14. Survival is good, especially since females are caring moms, and they have a lot of milk.

Important! You can not cross rabbits with blood relationship!

The first offspring of the Gray Giant rabbits is given as early as 3 months, but it is recommended to start from 5-6 months. To the rabbit finally grew. Pregnancy lasts about a month. 3-4 days before the birth, the female begins to prepare the nest: pulls out the fur on the stomach, coats it in the place where it will give birth. But if the female is not in a hurry, the breeder should take care of this. In order for the rabbit to be comfortable after giving birth, the place around should be soft, warm and absolutely clean!

After childbirth, it is desirable to ensure that the rabbit does not crawl away from the female, otherwise they will die. Help during childbirth is not needed, and rabbits cannot be picked up after birth, if the baby crawls away, it is gently pushed back to mommy, but hands should be in gloves. Babies can be moved away from the mother no earlier than on day 12, when the eyes open, otherwise they simply won’t find their way back. After the bunnies have grown up, they are weaned from the female and transferred to separate cages. From now on, they should receive the same care as other adult rabbits.
